Our precious little Maela Grace entered our lives Sunday, July 27, at 9:37p.m. She was 2 1/2 weeks early weighing 8lbs 14oz and 22inches long. Maela's name is in memory of our grandmother's names, Mae and Eula, after both my grandmothers, Dorothy Mae and Eula Maureen, and James's maternal grandmother, Naomi Mae. Her middle name is just a reminder to all of our savior's precious gift of grace that he gives to all his believers.
Several months ago, James and I were talking about when we thought she might be born, since all the other girls were born a few weeks early. I made the comment that it would be neat if she was born on July 27, since that was James granmother's birthday. He agreed, and for several weeks I have said that she would be born that day. Sure enough, Sunday morning while I was getting ready the contractions began, and continued about every 5 minutes for several hours, until they were 4 minutes, then 3 minutes, and then we went to the hospital and 7 hours later, our little Maela entered our family. It was as though God was giving us an extra blessing on this amazing day.
